We believe in making the world a better place for stray animals to live

We don't only feed them. We give them all the love and care they need — and then we find them somewhere to belong.

Our story

It started with one promise, in 2020

Speechless Animal Welfare Foundation was founded in 2020 by Ankulita Munot with a mission that fits in a single sentence: not to let any of the stray animals around us suffer in hunger.

What began as daily feeding rounds in Dhule grew into something much larger. As the work spread to Pune, it stopped being only about food. It became about the puppies nobody else would stop for — the motherless ones, the sick ones, the ones pulled out of drains and construction sites.

Today Speechless has positively influenced the lives of well over a hundred dogs across Dhule and Pune, runs a dedicated puppy shelter, and is backed by a network of more than 150 fosters and volunteers.

The founder

Ankulita Munot

Founder, Speechless Animal Welfare Foundation

Ankulita started Speechless in 2020, feeding the street animals in her own neighbourhood and refusing to look away from the ones that needed more than a meal. Rescue by rescue, that turned into a foundation, a shelter and a community.

Much of what Speechless does today still runs on the same instinct it started with — show up, pick the animal up, get it treated, and don't let go until it has a family. Her work on Instagram has since brought tens of thousands of people to the cause, many of whom had never looked twice at a street dog before.

Speechless Puppy Shelter

A safe place to wait for a family

We are proud to have successfully started a shelter for the homeless puppies of Pune. We rescue them off the street and give them a place in our shelter — as well as in our hearts.

The purpose behind the shelter is simple: create a safe, nurturing space where puppies can happily wait for their adoption instead of surviving on a pavement. They are fed, dewormed, vaccinated and socialised, and they stay with us for as long as it takes.

What drives us

Mission, vision and the thing in between

Our mission

To rescue, rehabilitate and rehome sick and motherless puppies, providing them with the love, care and support they need to thrive — and to not let any of the stray animals around us suffer in hunger.

Our vision

A world where every animal, regardless of health or circumstance, is valued, cherished and given the opportunity for a happy, fulfilling life — a community where compassion and empathy guide our actions.

Our aspiration

To provide every homeless and vulnerable puppy with a loving, forever home where their tails wag with happiness — and to set the standard for responsible pet ownership far beyond our own community.

“Together we strive for a world where every speechless companion finds their voice in the hearts of those who adopt and care for them.”

Milestones

How we got here

2020

Speechless begins

Founded with one promise — no stray animal nearby goes hungry. Daily feeding rounds start in Dhule.

Growing

From food to rescue

Feeding turns into rescue as motherless, sick and injured puppies start reaching us. Clean-water bowls go up across neighbourhoods.

Pune

The puppy shelter opens

A dedicated shelter gives rescued puppies a safe place to recover and wait for adoption instead of the street.

Today

A community of 150+

250+ rescues, 70+ adoptions and a foster network large enough to keep every rescue off the pavement.

Recognition

Beyond the street

Some moments took our rescues much further than the neighbourhoods they were found in.

In the press

Covered by Pune Mirror

Our work was featured in Pune Mirror — the shelter, the rescues coming out of it, and the volunteers who make it possible. Local press reaches exactly the people we need most: fosters and adopters who live close enough to say yes.

A special visit

[Celebrity name] came to meet our rescues

[Celebrity name] visited the Speechless puppy shelter, spent time with the dogs and helped carry their story to a far wider audience. Visits like this change how people see an Indie puppy — and that changes how fast they find a family.

Our volunteers

None of this happens alone

Fosters who open their homes, feeders who do the rounds, drivers who show up at midnight for a rescue call — this is what Speechless actually is.

Help us reach the next one

There is always another puppy waiting. Adopt, foster, volunteer or give — every route ends in a life saved.
